Uptown Theater Hosted Iconic New Wave & Synth-Pop Bands in KC

The “I Love The 80’s” tour brought a wave of nostalgia to Kansas City on June 13, 2025 as A Flock of Seagulls, Animotion and Bow Wow Wow featuring Annabella lit up the historic Uptown Theater with a night of synth-pop, new wave and high-energy throwbacks. It was an action-packed evening as expected full of hits that define the greatest era of all time. Fans heard such tunes as “Obsession,” “Room to Move,” “Let Him Go” and “I Engineer” by Animotion, Bow Wow Wow’s “I Want Candy” and “Do You Wanna Hold Me?” plus “Modern Love is Automatic,” “Space Age Love Song,” “Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)” and “I Ran (So Far Away)” from A Flock of Seagulls. All three acts brought a distinct flavor of the 1980s to the stage, but together they covered a full-spectrum of the era’s innovation and electricity.
