Amy Grant & Michael W. Smith Perform Christmas Classics in Kansas City

Kansas City was blessed with the ultimate concert of the season when Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith brought their Christmas Live performance to downtown’s Music Hall on November 30, 2023. The beloved Christian artists played two sets and 30+ songs before a passionate sold out crowd. The first set featured non-secular classics while the second set and encore featured those heartfelt secular ones.

Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith took turns singing originals and covers throughout the night and even sang as a duo on many, Smith often times on the piano. Additionally, Michael Tait of the Newsboys made a handful of special appearances to make it a trio, as well as perform some on his own. In the first set, fans heard song such as “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “All I Want for Christmas is You.” Smith even played a brand new song released this year entitled “Sometimes Every Christmas.” It was an entirely jovial part of the show, which included an extra bit of holiday fun, like Grant hula-hooping and “snowballs” getting thrown across the stage and into the crowd.

While the first set was a grand time, it was the second set that was the most inspiring and uplifting. It was such a blessing to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with the Christian genre’s best. Sharing the true meaning of Christmas, they sang songs such as “Love Has Come” and “All Is Well.” Tait even gave a solo performance of “O Holy Night” that absolutely took our breath away. Following was a sweet bit caroling—the crowd, on its feet, joined in with Grant, Smith and Tait for “The First Noel,” “Silent Night” and “Oh Come, All Ye Faithful.” However, along with “O Holy Night,” it was “Agnus Dei” and “Emmanuel” that stole the night.
