The 2019 Missouri State Fair featured Foreigner & Night Ranger Live in Concert on August 16, 2019

It simply just is not truly summertime without Foreigner and Night Ranger. The ultra-beloved rock bands headlined the Missouri State Fair’s concert series at the Pepsi Grandstand in Sedalia, MO on August 16, 2019. In front of a ruckus and jam-packed crowd, the two groups performed all of those cherished and transcending hits that exemplify the genre.

Under the setting sun, Night Ranger took the stage first with a load of energy featuring frontman Jack Blades (bass guitar), Kelly Keagy (drums), Brad Gillis (guitar), Keri Kelli (guitar) and Eric Levy (keyboards). A last minute change to the setlist saw them opening the show with “(You Can Still) Rock in America” with which they usually close, leaving a rousing performance of “Sister Christian”—their biggest hit—to close out the night. The set even included the recent addition of “Night Ranger,” their namesake and the song that first gave the band its notoriety. Those infectious, feel-good melodic sounds totally entranced the crowd from start to finish.

“(You Can Still) Rock in America,” “Four in the Morning,” “Sing Me Away,” “The Secret of My Success,” “School’s’ Out” (Alice Cooper), “Crazy Train” (Ozzy), “Night Ranger,” “High Enough” (Damn Yankees), “When You Close Your Eyes,” “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me” and “Sister Christian”

Darkness soon arose and Foreigner exploded on to the stage featuring lead vocalist Kelly Hansen, Tom Gimbel (multi-instrument), Jeff Pilson (guitar), Bruce Watson (guitar), Michael Bluestein (keyboards) and Chris Frazier (drums). Hansen soared sky high as he jumped off the stage set entry and he along with the band members never slowed down for a single moment as they played hit after hit. To fan excitement, founder and singer-songwriter Mick Jones joined the rest of the group on “Feels Like the First Time” and for the rest of the evening. Stripped back and with no need for fire, smoke or any crazy lighting truss effects seen in the amphitheaters, the band as always left the entire crowd clamoring for more with just its pure vocals and instrumental prowess.
