JBLZE 2018 Fall Tour Comes to Uptown Theater in Kansas City

Legendary English drummer Jason Bonham announced 2018 concert tour dates for his renown Led Zeppelin Evening to close out the fall season. The routing kicks off early this month with three shows in his home state of Florida before making a stop at Uptown Theater in Kansas City, MO on Tuesday, November 13. In celebration of the band and his late father John Bonham, the outing will feature that hallowed catalog of music backed by a stunning multimedia experience.

Fans can expect a jam-packed 3-hour show and much different playlist plus an even higher atmospheric level than the last two summers in Kansas City. “We’re changing the set around quite a bit, adding some different material… Never got played live by Zeppelin,” Jason told Live ’80s Kansas City. “The home movies are back in… So there’s a whole nother visual image I can’t do in daylight with no lights.” He even rehearsed some of the songs with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones and plans to play the version of “The Song Remains the Same” from “Dazed and Confused” plus every little jam session from that live show.

Originally dubbed the Led Zeppelin Experience, Jason Bonham began the project in 2008 following the December 2007 reunion with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones for the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert in which he took his father’s spot. When it was all said and done, he realized that it was a feeling he simply could not live without. He put the band together as a way to play the music and have some fun, but never expected it to go much more than 35 shows. In 2010, Jason launched the first North American tour and in 2011 went all around the world. Still, today and 10 years later, he continues to get offers to perform from all around the world. In 2013, he won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album with “Celebration Day,” the concert film recorded during that 2017 reunion—an honor that not even his father ever had the opportunity to achieve.

Jason said that his favorite part of doing the Led Zeppelin Evening performances—aside from not getting arrested for having so much fun—is the conversations that he gets to have with his dad every night he is out on stage. He even joked that his dad tells him, “Remember, I’m still the master!” It is truly an ever-sentimental moment each and every night that he has the chance to pay tribute and “get the Led out.” The setlist for the JBLZE 2018 fall tour will even feature some of the songs in the way he believes that his father would play them today. “I like to think what dad might have done now,” Jason explained. “He always wanted to evolve—the whole band—Zeppelin was about evolving and you can listen to every album and see that, and that was the secret of their success.”
