JBLZE Performed Live in Concert at Uptown Theater in Kansas City on November 13, 2018

Legendary drummer Jason Bonham brought his Led Zeppelin Evening tour to Uptown Theater in Kansas City, MO on November 13, 2018. In celebration of the band and his late father John Bonham, he continues to honor that hallowed catalog of music now reaching into an eight year long stint. “We will play this music as long as you allow use,” Jason told the crowd. The project started in 2010, but was never intended to leave his garage.

JBLZE had come to Starlight Theatre earlier in the summer, but this was a much different exploit. It was a stunning multimedia experience with home videos and a top-notch lighting display, something that just is not possible in the daylight. It, of course, was also not pouring rain, which the band endured as it opened the show that mid-July evening. Jason was excited to bring the tour back to Kansas City so that the band could play all of the songs they did not get to share on that night and plus some. It was a nearly 3-hour action-packed set of which fans reveled in every minute.

The show opened with a heightening video, then the back members made their way to the stage and immediately took fans over the hills and far away. They took fans all the back back to that eponymous debut album, through the blues side, the acoustic stuff and even songs that previously were never played live. The stories, though, played as integral a part in the magic of the evening, tales such as his grandma taking his father to the club as a kid and making the band let him play the drums when he didn’t even have a set at home to the later years when that drummer was walking home from the club with a crazy idea for a song, which turned out to be “Kashmir.”

Impassioned with all of his might, Jason Bonham allows fans to forever revel and live on in that moment in time when Led Zeppelin ruled rock ‘n’ roll. Even after playing the songs countless times, he still gets emotional. Each and every song provokes a different feeling, all of which was whole-heartedly felt throughout the building. As a final and lasting embrace, he told fans to “keep your faith and always remember to get the mother f*ing Led out!”
