Starlight Theatre to Host Peter Frampton’s Final Kansas City Performance

English-American rock musician Peter Frampton announced an extensive retirement outing set for this summer. Dubbed “Finale: The Farewell Tour,” the trek kicks off at on June 18 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa and is scheduled to make a concert stop at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City on Monday, August 5. Joining him for the date is none other than Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening.

After stints with bands Humble Pie and The Herd, Peter Frampton launched his solo career in 1971. He launched his debut album “Wind of Change” in 1972, but it was his fifth record “Frampton Comes Alive!” (1976) that gave him his major breakthrough and international fame. It was a totally live release, which included “Show Me the Way” and “Baby, I Love Your Way” from his previous album “Frampton” (1975) and an edited take of “Do You Feel Like We Do” from “Frampton’s Camel” (1973). They all had previously failed to chart, but went all the way to No. 6, No. 12 and No. 10 respectively on the US pop chart with the live versions. He followed that up with his biggest hit “I’m in You,” which went all the way to No. 2. Additional hits include “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours),” “I Can’t Stand It No More,” “Breaking All the Rules,” “Lying” and “Holding on to You.” He is widely renown for his guitar playing and use of the talk box, and in 2007 won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album with “Fingerprints” (2006).

Famed English drummer Jason Bonham continues the celebration of Led Zeppelin and his late father John Bonham with his Led Zeppelin Evening featuring the band’s hallowed catalog of music. He started the project in 2008 following the December 2007 reunion with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones for the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert in which he took his father’s spot, and even won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album with “Celebration Day,” the concert film from that night. Bonham has brought his passionate performance to Starlight Theater the past two summers—the latter in the pouring rain—and even returned this past winter with the total multimedia experience. Each amazing night featured varying setlists as there are so many tunes from which to choose, including songs such as “Immigrant Song,” “Good Times Bad Times,” “Kashmir,” “Over the Hills and Far Away,” “Whole Lotta Love,” “Ramble On,” “Rock and Roll” and “Stairway to Heaven.”
