Classic Kansas City Bands Shooting Star & Missouri Performed Live at Ameristar Casino on April 9, 2022
Kansas City’s very own legends of rock returned to Ameristar Casino for a live concert performance on April 9, 2022. Nearly two and a half years had passed by us since Shooting Star last graced the Star Pavilion stage, and the Maniacs were utterly beside themselves with excitement. This time around though, life-long associated act Missouri was on the ticket as well opening the show. An unparalleled KC following continually turns out to see these local icons live and in the flesh. Fans can always expect a new and dynamic set from such an incredible cast of musicians, but this night is probably at the top of their list. Shooting Star featured founding member Steve Thomas (drums) and classic member Dennis Laffoon (keyboards) alongside Janet Jameson (violin), Todd Pettygrove (lead vocals) and Chet Galloway (guitar). Second song out of the shoot was a rare occurrence of “Midnight Man” from the band’s debut album. Missouri, heralding that classic hit “Movin’ On,” featured founding members Bill Larson (drums) and Lane Turner (guitar) with Dean “Deano” Foltz (bass), Rusty Crewse (guitar) and newcomer Stephen Campbell (lead vocals).
