80s Concerts in Kansas City | Iconic Rock Band Starship featuring Mickey Thomas to Perform Live in Concert at Amerister Casino Hotel Kansas City

Catch the emblematic sounds of Starship featuring Mickey Thomas when the band performs live at Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City on Saturday, June 10. As one of the most iconic bands of the decade, it formed in 1984 with members of Jefferson Starship fronted by Mickey Thomas and Grace Slick. With its change in creative direction to a more pop rock sound, the band bolstered itself to immediate and acclaimed success. Its debut album, “Knee Deep in the Hoopla” (1986), reached No. 7 on the albums chart and spawned the No. 1 hit singles “We Built This City” and “Sara.” The follow-up album, “No Protection” (1987), featured a third No. 1 hit in the previously released single “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now”—the theme song to the romantic comedy film “Mannequin” (1987). Slick would depart in 1988 as the band recorded its third and final album of the era, “Love Among the Cannibals” (1989).

Today, Thomas continues to carry on the grandeur and legacy of the band. Its setlist at Ameristar Casino Hotel is sure to include those chart-topping tunes of the ’80s plus hits like “White Rabbit” and “Jane” from Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship. Thomas will even treat fans to a performance of that song that propelled him to stardom in his early career, “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” as recorded with Elvin Bishop.

Presales for the Starship concert begin on Tuesday, March 14 at 10am and tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 17 at 10am.
