Sundown Salute, the state’s largest annual Independence Day weekend celebration in Junction City, KS, is set to present a FREE concert featuring Bret Michaels on Sunday, July 3 at Heritage Park.

Michaels gained his initial success as the frontman of the glam metal band Poison. The group went multi-platinum with its first three albums. “Look What the Cat Dragged In” (1986) reached No. 3 on the albums chart while “Open Up and Say… Ahh!” (1988) and “Flesh & Blood” (1990) both reached No. 2. The band’s first album spawned its first Top 10 hit, “Talk Dirty to Me.” The follow-up album created another Top 10 hit in “Nothin’ But a Good Time,” as well as the group’s chart-topper, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.” After success endured into the early part of the next decade, Poison disbanded in 1994. Michaels continued with a formidable solo career and as a entrepreneurial business man, however, and still makes nearly 300 appearances each year in live performances and other engagements.

Heritage Park is located at 510 N. Jefferson St.—entertainment starts at 7pm and Michaels goes on stage at 9pm.
