Kansas City Music Hall Hosted Tori Amos on Her “Ocean to Ocean” Tour

Singer-songwriter and pianist Tori Amos brought her “Ocean to Ocean” tour in support of her new album by the same name to Music Hall in Kansas City, MO on May 31, 2022. After a stint fronting her own synth-pop band Y Kant Tori Read during the mid- to late-’80s, she set out on her own as an alternative rock and chamber pop artist. Her set featured tunes from throughout her tremendous solo career, including “Girl” and “Precious Things” off of her 1992 debut album.

Amos dazzled on the ivories for a jam-packed theater all night long. She switched on and off between her grand piano and keyboards, but many times performed on both at the same time with such sensational talent. Her backing band included electric and stand-up bass guitarist Jon Evans and drummer Ash Soan. Together they captured an ever-impassioned crowd and held them in the palm of their hands for the entire evening. Mid-set, Amos even played a couple of solo songs for the fans.

It was an absolutely mind blowing night filled with those exclusive sounds that only Tori Amos can deliver. The deep base and incessant beats could go on forever too. Every song, we could just close our eyes, feel the music through our hearts and souls and simply drift away. The spectacular light show topped it off, especially as she closed out the night with “Raspberry Swirl” and blue and pink neon lights strobed in every which direction across the theater.
