Staples of the ’80s, iconic English new wave bands When in Rome II and Bow Wow Wow brought their live concert tour to the Aftershock live music venue in Merriam, KS on January 30, 2020.

When in Rome II opened up the show with a 30-minute set featuring founding member and keyboard player Michael Floreale alongside newcomer and frontman Tony Fennell previously of Ultravox and Enuff Z’Nuff. With their drummer not out on the road, the two were a duo for the night dazzling fans with songs off of the first and second album, including that chart-topping dance tune, “The Promise.”

Led by founding member and bass guitarist Leigh Gorman, Bow Wow Wow took to the stage next with a ball of energy. Joining him were lead singer Kristen Dinsmore, guitarist Erik Ferentinos and drummer Christian Johnson. Dinsmore traversed all across the stage singing all of the upbeat, danceable tunes synonymous with the band with feature on its biggest US hit, “I Want Candy.”
