Kansas Got Foreigner in Park City & Topeka in Advance of Farewell Tour

The end of an era is among us as our ever-beloved rock band Foreigner announced its worldwide “Historic Farewell” tour this past fall. There were many things for the members to weigh and consider, but ultimately they want to leave fans remembering them for their extraordinary live performances—and that is exactly what they are doing. That trek kicks off in early July, but the group is already hitting many cities throughout the country for the very last time. Kansas was blessed to receive a double dose of the band on its “Greatest Hits” tour this spring, very likely its final shows in the state.

Foreigner laid it all on the line when it returned to Hartman Arena in the Wichita suburb of Park City on Sunday, April 30—a venue the band played less than two years ago following the pandemic. With a days break, the members turned around and took the same unparalleled high energy to Landon Arena inside of Stormont Vail Events Center in capital city Topeka on Tuesday, May 2. On stage were Kelly Hansen (lead vocals), Jeff Pilson (bass guitar), Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Bruce Watson (guitar), Chris Frazier (drums) and Luis Maldonado (guitar). Always out-of-this-world electrifying, each and every time seeing the band is as thrilling as the very first time.

It’s safe to say that no matter when it’s the very last time though, we will never be ready for it. Foreigner has created so many memories for all of us both live in concert and through the many forms of media on which everlasting fans have listened to its music throughout nearly five decades. The band has sealed a particularly special place in our hearts, its discography is simply the soundtrack of our lives. That will last long after the live performances are done and we will always continue to create more. Many of the best ones are solidified in our minds forever, but we want to ensure that we document as many of them in photographs as possible before the lights officially go down.

The “Historic Farewell” tour only has dates scheduled through September of this year currently, but Hansen let fans know that it will likely run through 2024. Will we see Foreigner in Kansas again? We will keep the hope alive, but know that the band has to play and say goodbye to an abundance of cities around the world too. However, we certainly have at least one more shot to catch Foreigner live when the members perform under the summer sky at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, MO on July 18—our home and the place where all of the most magical moments occur. Tickets sold out very early through the venue box office, but make sure you find a way to witness this absolutely unforgettable and not-to-miss evening that is set to transpire.
